Job Description:

This full-time position will oversee day-to-day financial operations of Bold Hope. The Full Charge Bookkeeper  is responsible for all financial records and reporting for the organization and its subsidiaries in accordance with accounting principles and nonprofit regulations. All members of our staff must align with the mission of Bold Hope and its values. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.  
    • Oversee classifying financial transactions, including income, expenses and other financial activities for the entire organization and its subsidiaries
    • Collaborate with international team to develop and implement financial policies and procedures
  • Oversee the entire bookkeeping process including
    • Processing of accounts payable (bills and receipts, partner grants)
    • Recording and processing of accounts receivable (grants compliance, managing fund accounts and cash flow)
    • Ensure donations are properly being recorded in customer management system and recorded into accounting systems monthly
    • Work in collaboration with other departments to alert when recurring donors and gifts are not received and disbursed.
    • Make recommendations for improvement of processes
  • Process payroll including processing time off, accurate payroll applications and benefit deductions and benefit program incentives.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets.  Analyze the monthly data, provide reports and collaborate with local and subsidiary management teams or relevant stakeholders
  • Prepare and provide analysis on financial reports such as income statement of activity, statement of financial position and cash flow statements. Communicate information to  management and other stakeholders, including presenting reports and answering questions.
  • Collaborate with auditors during annual audits and other financial reviews.  Provide necessary documentation and support to ensure nonprofit regulations and account standards compliance.  
  • Lead the development and maintain financial policies and procedures that promote sound financial management practices and internal controls.  

Education and Experience:

Certified Bookkeeper preferred; length of service in lieu of certification acceptable. Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably within a nonprofit organization. Proficiency with Quickbooks; minimum of 3 years experience required. 2 years of experience in similar roles or responsibilities. Experience working within a CRM (customer relationship management) system.
