Position Overview: As a Children's Ministry Director at New City Church, you will play a vital role in fostering the spiritual growth and development of our youngest and most valuable members. Our mission is centered around living “second”—living lives that prioritize the kingdom of God above all else, placing others before ourselves, and embracing a commitment to servanthood. The Children's Ministry Director will lead by example, embodying our mission and instilling these values in the growing number of children in the congregation while exploring ways to connect with kids outside the church in the South Bay.

Responsibilities:

  • Spiritual Leadership: Lead the Children's Ministry with a deep commitment to fostering spiritual growth, nurturing faith, and instilling Kingdom Values in children. Build relational connections with kids and their families as a means of discipleship.

  • Curriculum Development: Implement a comprehensive curriculum that is age-appropriate, biblically sound, fun and engaging for children from preschool through elementary school.

  • Volunteer Recruitment and Training: Recruit, train, and equip volunteers to serve effectively in various roles within the Children's Ministry, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all children.

  • Program Management: Oversee all aspects of the children's ministry program, including scheduling, event planning, and budget management.

  • Outreach and Community Engagement: Develop strategies to reach out to children and families within the community, inviting them to participate in the Children's Ministry programs and the larger congregation.

  • Parent Communication: Foster open and effective communication with parents, providing resources, support, and opportunities for involvement in their children's spiritual development.

  • Worship Integration: Collaborate with the church leadership team to integrate children into the broader worship community, providing opportunities for them to participate, engage, and lead in worship services.

  • Find ways to include kids from our tuition-based programs into our Children’s Ministry program.

  • Track students’ participation and work with deacons on a follow-up process.

  • Safety and Security: Ensure the safety and security of all children participating in the ministry programs, implementing appropriate policies and procedures in accordance with Presbyterian Church guidelines and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to the Christian faith and the mission of New City Church.

  • Bachelor's degree in theology, Christian education, or a related field preferred.

  • Previous experience working with children in a ministry or educational setting.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to relate effectively to children, parents, volunteers, and church leadership.

  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth in ministry leadership.

This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and families within our growing church community, guiding them in their journey of faith and discipleship.
