Director of High School Youth, College and Young Adult Discipleship

Purpose

This individual will provide leadership and development of HS youth ministry, ministry to college students, ministries to young adults at Grace Church.  They will join with the staff and church leadership in the vision of reaching and discipling for Jesus Christ.

Scope of Responsibilities

High School Ministries – see separate PD for Youth Ministry Positions

Ministry to College Students – since this is a new ministry area, the task is with vision to developing a ministry to follow our HS students into their college years and provide spiritual nurture and support and continued growth in discipleship for these students, both those living close to home and those at distant campuses

Young Adult Ministries:

• resource, encourage and support current efforts in discipling young adults
• Identify and provide other ways to strengthen the young adults of Grace Church in discipleship – groups for learning, accountability groups, fellowship, etc.
• identify strengths and gifts in young adults and point them to places of service and leadership within Grace
• engage young adults  in outreach ministries

Other:

• providing primary care to those under their specific ministry area

• help with responding to first-time guests so we can quickly establish a relationship and get those persons connected to Grace’s ministries
• report on ministry activities as needed and/or requested by church leadership bodies, particularly to Church Council and Staff-Parish
• identify, recruit, train, and support lay persons for meaningful service within the life and ministries of Grace Church
• look for ways to assist, encourage, affirm, support, and thank other staff everyday
• additional assignments and tasks as agreed upon in consultation with pastors

Accountability

This position will report to and be supervised by the Assistant Pastor/and or Senior Pastor and is accountable to the Staff-Parish Relations Committee.  

Hours and Compensation

Position is hourly full-time.  Work week of course includes Sunday, as well as Saturday and evenings as necessary to accomplish the ministry work.  Work hours can include at-home preparation as well as office hours.  Because ministry with HS students’ needs to be done at times they are available (that is, outside school hours), it is understood the staff person may adjust daytime/office hours as needed in order to be available to the students.  Specific weekly schedule can vary as to need throughout the year, and will be determined in consultation with the pastors.  One specified weekday will be a day off; additionally, Saturdays, as much as ministry activities allow can be a personal day for family. 

Salary amount:  TBD, based on experience/qualifications
